Namaste and Happy July.
First, let me thank all of you who supported our matching grant campaign last month. Your kindness and generosity made the difference and…
Because of you, we will sponsor our first student with a three year vocational training support scholarship through the Bhaskar Memorial Trust.
Because of you, we will provide a month’s worth of support to elderly Nepalis who know they are still valued and respected because our partner, the Jyoti Foundation, understands that it is our privilege, as well as our duty, to help.
Because of you, there will be two more medical camps for vulnerable women and children with our colleagues at WonderWorks Asia.
Because of you, we will fund more fire and earthquake safety training programs which are essential in a nation where the threats are constant but few truly know how to protect themselves and those they love in the face of disaster.
Because of you, we will provide support for reforestation in the Solukhumbu region — bolstering our planet’s lungs at the top of the world even as we protect the communities that live on those slopes from the risk of massive earth slides in the next earthquake.
Is there more for us to do? Of course. And do we still need your help? Absolutely. But, for now, let us say thank you for all who have cared, who have made a difference, who have touched lives.
You transform the world in which we live. You embody the values that define us not just as Americans but as a global community of people who care.
Thank you one and all. Together, we will continue to bring hope to those who need a helping and, together, we will Engage Nepal.
